The Gorewing 1500pts List

This is my final list for The Gorewing. I'm entering a tournament in August at this points value so the aim is to get everything built and painted to a high standard by then. Seeing as I've yet to play a proper game of 40k this edition I've got a lot of practice games to get in too! I don't expect to win and this is far from the most competitive list but I'm excited to play with it and that's ultimately my main aim. That and I'm going to focus more on trying to win the Best Painted Prize I think! I'm working on a commission at the minute, painting some Space Wolves Grey Hunters (pics in a few days) and then I can make a proper start on the rest of Kaldor's army.

There is one real massive tip I can give since I have little experience with/against the Space Wolves Codex, but drop all those chainfists and meltabombs. Since you always hit the rear armor of a vehicle in close combat, the chainfist and meltabombs aren't needed. Why? With the exception of about five vehicles (three Russ variants, the Land Raiders and the Monolith which denies you extra dice anyways) the rear armor of a vehicle is 10. Take a powerfist instead. Yes, it's incredibly cheap for the upgrade, but you've got...4 chainfists and a set of meltabombs, that's 65 points. That is to say, a whole lot of points!

If you have to use a chainfist to punch open a Land Raider, whatever is inside said Land Raider will chew you up (that is not good times).

Thanks for the advice Consadine. Will have a look at the list some more then before I finish building all the Termies. The only sticking point I see is the number of minis I'm using is set so freeing up points at this point doesn't neccessarily help me.
The Melta Bombs should have gone to the Wolf Claw armed Lone Wolf. I'm quite happy for those nut jobs to get into combat with anything, especially the dual chainfist wielding one who will remain competitive or not! :D

Might swap out the power fists for Frost Blades...
